Instagram just introduced a new feature called Collections, which is designed to help users organize their saved posts and store them in folders called private collections. Users can create as many collections as they want, so it would be easier for them to organize their posts for easier reference at a later date. On Monday, Instagram announced the new feature that is said to challenge Pinterest’s bookmarking feature and the latter’s ability to save items to certain boards. According to TechCrunch, Instagram is launching Collections as an expansion of the bookmarking tool it debuted last December. The tool allows users to privately save posts they want to quickly retrieve at a later date, so they won’t need to download them to their Camera Roll. The Collections feature would serve as an expansion of the bookmarking tool, since users can now create a collection for certain posts they want to save. It works just like saving and organizing photos into an album on one’s phone. And while it takes inspiration from Pinterest, Instagram’s Collections is distinct due to the fact that the collections one makes is only for himself or herself. Pinterest’s organized boards are offered to users as a means of socializing and sharing content with others.
